About G. Kim Dority
Kim Dority, MLS, is the founder and president of G. K. Dority & Associates, Inc., located in Denver, Colorado. She is an information specialist with expertise in information strategy, information process design, research, writing, editing, publishing, and online content development.
Kim has worked with all types of organizations to design, build, and execute effective information strategies. Her work has encompassed the entire spectrum of information strategy, solutions, and implementation for both nonprofit and for-profit organizations.
Included among her major projects:
- Development of online content strategy for Disaboom.com, the premier online resource for people with disabilities
- Development and implementation of information strategies for students, faculty, marketing, and accreditation goals for growing online MBA program
- Design and creation of first digital library for online learners
- Building of successful digital library business for online learning industry
- Design and execution of information strategies for nonprofits, with a focus on marketing, branding, member recruitment, and increased revenues
- Ghost-writing of several books, plus numerous articles and speeches, for corporate and nonprofit CEOs
- Creation and implementation of an executive information service for a corporate CEO that included environmental scanning, competitive landscaping, key player "backgrounders," new business development support, and research on demand
In addition to her work with G. K. Dority & Associates, Ms. Dority is on the advisory board of the University of Denver's Library and Information Science graduate program, and previously served as the program's interim director. During that time she created and has now taught for many years a course entitled "Alternative Career Paths for LIS Students," on which Rethinking Information Work is based. She has also written several bibliographies of reference works.
Kim received her M.L.S. from the University of Denver, and her B.A. in comparative literature from the University of California at Irvine.
